about
I remember coming up with the main riff for this song just after my family moved to Lancaster, PA. I was in the eleventh grade, around 2002. Racing Through Time certainly evolved over the years. The first demo was made in 2008. Completely different lyrics and arrangement. Over the last few years it's settled into what it is now, and has become a band favorite.
Racing Through time is about the pain that one can edure when the timing of a love is just not working out. Even in the singer's dreams, he can't seem to get the timing right. Poor guy... The little sublayer is that there are also a few fun time changes in this piece, so in a sense, we're racing through time signatures!
We hope you enjoy it!
lyrics
Last night I dreamt
I could send my waves across the sea
Crash down on your shore, so far away
But all the while my currents were righteous and strong
The moon keeps on pulling me back
I can see you as an image
I want to hold you instead of getting lost in this dream
Whoa, oh, yeah
I want time to align for me and you at the right time
I cant keep up with the speed of rotation
Falling behind in this race through time
It don’t matter what time it is
I’m flying towards the future
Living in the past
We’re in different times,
Fast and slow?
And I’ve got strange feelings which
Way it’s gonna go
We’re in different times
Can’t let go
Last night I dreamt
I could send my rays across the sky
Shine down, warm your grounds, so far away (So Far)
But as bright as my sunbeams radiate
the clouds come and stand in my way
I can hear you in the whispers
I try to call you, but you can't hear me when I scream
whoa oh oh oh oh
I want time to align for me and you at the right time
I cant keep up with the speed of rotation
Falling behind in this race through time
It don’t matter what time it is
I’m longing for the future
Living in the past
We’re in different times,
Don’t you know?
And I’ve got a strange feeling which way it's gonna grow
We’re in different times
Can’t let go
